A PISTOL TINDER-BOX LIGHTER BY JOHN SAVAGE OF WOLVERHAMPTON CIRCA 1770, the iron rectangular body stamped on the one side with the makers name 'J. SAVAGE / W.hampton', The front supported by a simple curved foot. The frame swings open to one side revealing the storage compartment for dry tinder or spare flints, with one piece crudely carved walnut grip, dirty over all, mainspring missing.
